Deaf Football Taster event

Posted on August 2nd 2017 by

A great day was had by all at the Exeter City Deaf Football Taster event, held on the 22nd July at Cranbrook Education Campus.

The aim of the session was to introduce deaf children to the opportunity of playing football as part of a deaf team. The session attracted 17 participants all aged between 8 and 18. The children were split into 2 groups under 12s and over 12s group with the activities being lead by Will Allan, Disability Officer and  Sam Sharpe a coach from Exeter City Community Trust. They were assisted by three senior players from Exeter City Knights Deaf FC, all of which have recently completed a Deaf Football coaching award. Both groups went through various drills and then ending with a game.

If everyone who attended decides to register with us it would mean we would have the first Deaf youth teams in Devon.

A big thank you has to go to Michelle Ford who provided sign support for the day.

Thank you to everyone involved for making it such a successful day.

If you would like further information on how to get involved please contact Will Allan via email to
